Memorial tree program started by historical association

The Humboldt County Historical Association is starting a memorial tree program. Committee members developed some possible sites for future tree locations at the Historical Museum grounds east of Dakota City. Here is a graphic rendering of some potential locations. Graphic courtesy of Steve Reedy.

The reasons to plant a tree are as numerous as the branches it grows.
Now add another reason to the list, to remember of loved one in the pastoral and serene setting of the Humboldt County Historical Association Museum grounds east of Dakota City.
This new Memorial Tree Program at the museum was the idea of a group of volunteers who not only saw the environmental/ecological need of more trees at the museum property, but also saw the emotional/spiritual need of finding a way to recognized a friend or a loved one.
“Participation in the program will be through donations, and selection of a tree from the approved list. A donation of $150-$250 will purchase one tree. Other donations will be accepted and when adequate funds have been received, the suitable trees will be planted on the museum grounds,” said LeRoy Jorgensen, one of the volunteers organizing the effort.
