Erickson named Community Services coordinator
The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors met Monday and acted on several different items regarding a number of county departments.
The board accepted the resignation of Brad Leckrone as the coordinator for county social services, general assistance director, substance abuse and case management director.
Leckrone’s work will be completed by July 9.
Leckrone has served as the county coordinator for Wright, Humboldt and Pocahontas counties for the past two years.
The board passed several resolutions that would amend and terminate the county’s 28E sharing agreement with Wright and Pocahontas counties. The board agreed to terminate the 28E agreement, effective at the end of the current calendar year, although the agreement could be ended sooner, with the agreement of all three parties.
After some discussion, the board agreed to the appointment of Kathy Erickson as disability coordinator, general assistance director, substance abuse and case management director for the county Department of Community Services, at an annual salary of $60,000.
The supervisors asked if Erickson would be willing to serve as the director for Pocahontas County.
Erickson said she would need to know that service work and case management duties she had been handling could be taken care of by the county department.
She said it might also be good to discuss the possibility with the regional administrator for the county’s 32-county mental health group.
If Humboldt County was to go on its own for case management, there was discussion about the possible need for more staffing.
“She (Kathy) can’t do a three-fourths caseload case management, supervise and do the other duties,” Leckrone said.
Erickson said the number of clients for case management could be higher than 48.
“There are a lot of questions out there, but we need to have some direction and move forward, so this is a good first step,” Supervisor Jerry Haverly said.
