Humboldt gears up for 150th celebration
One hundred and fifty years and still growing is the theme for Humboldt’s Sesquicentennial celebration, planned for this summer, July 4-7.
In addition to the traditional 4th of July parade harness races and fireworks, there were be a 5k run/walk on Thursday morning. A cemetery walk at Union Cemetery on Friday, July 5, at 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., a Downtown Sounds Humboldt Idol event on Friday evening.
Saturday events will include the farmer’s market in downtown Humboldt, firefighter barrel fights and more harness races.
A special commissioned piece of music is to be performed at Humboldt High School on Saturday, July 6, featuring school and community musicians and vocalists.
Sunday, July 7, activities will include Cowboy Church music and food in Bicknell Park and a grilling contest, barnyard Olympics and tug-o-war at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds in the afternoon.
