Insurance agency turned over to 2nd generation
Maury Abens and Larry Curran have passed the torch to their sons, Bob Abens and Scott Curran, at the Abens-Marty-Curran Agency.
Effective Jan. 1, 2014, the younger Abens and Curran purchased the agency from their fathers. The elder Abens and Curran are staying on for a few years as consultants.
“It was a good time to make the transition. The guys are ready, and we can still help out part-time,” Larry Curran said.
“Bob and Scott have been working up to this point. It was the right time to step back and let the younger guys take over,” Maury said.
Maury brought Abens Insurance to Humboldt in 1976. In 1978, he and Lawrence Marty partnered to form the Abens-Marty Insurance Agency. In 1986, Larry Curran joined the agency and it became the Abens-Marty-Curran Agency. Lawrence Marty retired in 1989, but the name of the agency has remained the same.
