Main contests are for national offices
Most of the focus of this year’s general election is on the national races for president and U.S. Congress, even locally.
Several local offices and the Iowa House race for State Representative District 10, are no races at all, as they are uncontested.
There is one contested race for Humboldt County Supervisor, that being in District 4. Incumbent John “Mort” Christianson, Democrat from Bode, is running against Republican Randy Foth of Livermore.
Uncontested supervisor races include Rick Pedersen in District 3, Harlan Hansen in District 1 and Jerry Haverly in District 5. The District 2 Supervisor seat is held by Carl Mattes of Humboldt, and is not up for election this fall.
Other county officials up for election this fall are Dean Kruger for sheriff, Peggy Rice for county auditor and Jon Beaty for county attorney. All are Republicans and all are running unopposed.
Tom Shaw, a one-term incumbent from Laurens, is running unopposed for the State Representative District 10 seat. For more election news, including supervisor district maps and polling locations, see this week's Humboldt Independent.
