Wildcat girls 2nd, boys 4th at Ballard
Humboldt's varsity girls' cross country team placed second and the boys were fourth in the team scoring of the Ballard Huxley Invitational held Monday (Sept. 16) at Huxley. The Wildcat girls had 54 team points. Gilbert was first with 32 points. Humboldt's boys totaled 117 points while Creston took the boys' title with 74 points.
Sam Larson was third overall in leading the Humboldt girls in 15:47. Maddie Kampen ran sixth in 15:58, followed by Kate Curran 10th in 16:40, Avery Terwilliger 14th in 17:04 and Kessa Kuyper 21st in 17:44. In the boys' scoring, Jake Miller ran fourth overall in 17:30. Michael Bowden was 12th in 18:19 and Demetrius Friedl 26th in 18:58. Connor Fiddler ran 28th in 19:07 while Reed Burres was 37th in 19:24.
WILDCAT GIRLS 3RD, BOYS 6TH AT ESTHERVILLE
Sam Larson took first-place overall in 15:13 to lead the Humboldt High girls' cross country team to third-place in the Estherville-LC Invitational on Sept. 10. Larson was backed by Maddie Kampen who was fourth in 15:54. Kate Curran ran 14th in 16:41 and Avery Terwilliger was 23rd in 17:13. McKennan Myott was 25th in 17:16.
The Wildcat boys were sixth as a team. Michael Bowden led HHS by running 20th in 18:53. Connor Fiddler was 25th in 19:32, followed by Demetrius Friedl 27th in 19:44, Logan Vitzthum 33rd in 20:04 and Reed Burres 35th in 20:17.
