| Circus answers your questions about the event One of the most popular events to ever come to town will return in August, as the Carson and Barnes Circus will be at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds.
There will be shows at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29.
Advance tickets are available at Hy-Vee, Fareway, Humboldt Rent All, Vinny's BBQ and Shopper's Supply. An Advance Super Saver Ticket is available for $25 and will admit two adults and three children ages two to 11. All individual advance tickets are $10. Children under two are free. Advance tickets will only be available until the morning of the show. Tickets at the door will be considerably higher, $10 for children and $20 for adults.
The public will be invited to come view the setting up of the big tent starting in the morning.
The Carson and Barnes Circus was at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds for two sold-out shows in May of 2005. Thousands of people watched the elephants help put up the big tops.
What follows are some frequently asked questions about the show and accommodations.
Is my baby free? What are the ages for child tickets? Infants are free (under two). Children are two to 11.
How long is the show? Two hours.
Can I bring a camera or video camera? Yes to a still-photo camera, no to a video camera. There is a video of the circus available for sale on the midway of the circus.
When should I arrive? At least 45 minutes prior to the show to enjoy the midway and traveling zoo. Entrance to the tent is approximately 30 minutes before the show.
Is there handicapped seating? Yes, in all sections. Also a handicapped entrance, if people cannot walk. Special parking is near the handicapped entrance.
Can I buy a better seat than general admission? Yes, box seats and Reserved Center Section seats are sold from 9 a.m. until show time and preferred seating is sold in the tent.
Can I take a stroller into the tent? Yes, strollers are welcome on the show grounds; however, they must be parked in the assigned area inside the tent.
Do they serve beer and wine at the circus? No, and none is allowed on the circus grounds.
Does the show go on even if it is raining? Yes, it is dry under the big top tent.
What kinds of acts do Carson and Barnes Circus have? Elephants, camels, clowns, acrobats, aerialists, horses, jugglers, and much more.
