Humboldt's varsity basketball teams picked up a pair of impressive wins Friday night (Feb. 1) in Webster City by sweeping the Lynx in a North Central Conference doubleheader.
The Wildcat girls opened with a 53-19 victory over the Lynx. Lauren Friesth scored 20 points to lead Humboldt. Kinzie Wright and Kessa Kuyper each had seven and Karlee Peyton and Erica Lane had five each. April Jones made three while Sarah Peters, Maddie Thomas and Maggy Duffield had two each. Humboldt improved to 7-11 overall, 6-10 in the NCC. The Wildcats host North Union on Feb. 4 and visit Iowa Falls on Feb. 5. HHS hosts Clear Lake on Feb. 7.
The Wildcat boys roared out to a 33-10 halftime lead and went on to whip the Lynx, 63-44, moving to 13-4 overall, 12-4 in the NCC. Bryan Larson scored 20 points, Brady Ross had 15 and Jaxon Heinz made 13 for the Wildcats, who return to action at Iowa Falls on Feb. 5 in a key conference game. HHS hosts Clear Lake on Feb. 7.
